a friend of mine has a duo and he thinks it may be screwed up or kak because of removing or inserting usb while box is on,i would say to anybody to insert or remove only while box is powered off.
can it do major damage as he has to get another one??

ive not heard any other reports of damage being done by removing or inserting usb while the receiver is on. the only time i have heard of / seen damage is where the stick was removed mid flash as the flash was on the stick.

the box however was not a dead loss as a null modem cable was used to resurrect it.

i wont tell lewgot a null modem cable?hopefully some one can guide you correctly

i dont have a VU mate but like all satellites a null modem cable and the rite software should sort it for you.

Have you tried reflashing it with a usb stick ? If so what problems are you having ?

it wont read from booting it says reading usb and then doesnt tryed a few differ sticks as well
