    Network setup for DM share.

I am taking delivery of a DM500S this week and I am reading through the newbie cs setup guide and got to the bit on opening ports and setting up a static ip. The PC I am using is a laptop which connects wirelessly to my router. I have set a static ip on my laptop and opened port 12000 on my router and checked the port and all is okay. Is this right? Or do I need to setup a static ip on my router? Or am i missing something? When my laptop is off I won't have an ip address will i? If this is wrong could someone explain the correct setup for me? Confused?!!?!?

Why are u trying to open ports. Just needed if u are going to set up your box as a server. If u are only using it as client then just connect box to the router directly or hpmeplugs

It will be setup as a server. I will be watching it and hopefully sharing a sub with my neighbour.

It depends on who your isp most are static ip anyway so that aint a problem i would suggest changing the port from the standard 12000 to one of your choice its dead easy in the Cccam cfg just type in server listen port and your port number.

I'm pretty sure my ip is static. So the port is open on the router, I just need to register for a DynDNS account then and after that set the box up and test it. Do I need a free dyndns account or will i need one of the pay ones?
