I'm getting bored with my IP4 and am thinking of selling it, I'm on orange but what I want to find out is if it is unlocked which might sound daft when I say I got it from apple as a replacement, is there anyway to check without having another sim? also I know I can buy an adapter for my mini sim but will orange know if I'm not using it in an iphone?

if bought from orange there not usually unlocked , the easiest way mate put a diff sim in wont do it no harm

don't have another sim.

Original was from orange but this is a replacement from apple store in the Arndale, not sure if that means its unlocked or not and wanted to double check

As biffo says, borrow a sim from a mate, if you can make calls it's unlocked. You'll need to change the data package though.

If its from an Apple store, then good chances are that it will be unlocked. Mine certainly was when I bought direct from Apple store. But as others have said, easiest way is another sim. You can get sims for 99p from most retailers, or post offices.

Yeah just bought one of eBay to try

just popped in sim I got off ebay (cut down) and itunes is telling me that sim is not supported, quick look on web and my heads hurting, read somewhere about using redsnow but phone is already JB on 4.1 so dont want to do it again. Is there an easier way to activate using a different sim?

If you are a Pay Monthly or Pay As You Go customer and your phone has been registered for more than 3 months, all you will need do is pay to unlock your phone. The unlocking fee is £20.00 including VAT, payable prior to unlocking the phone.

To unlock your phone all you will need to do is call our Customer Service team on 150 from your Orange phone, or 07973 100150 from any other mobile or landline or 450 (07973 100450) if the phone has been used with a pay as you go SIM. Unlocking generally takes between 7 and 10 days.

watched that on youtube and apparently it cant be done anymore.

think i'm going to keep it for now anyway, after looking around I cant find anything else I fancy at the minute
