Wireless N Cable Router can it be used with ADSL?

As the topic says I made an error in getting a Wireless N Cable router instead of a Wireless N ADSL Router its a BELKIN F5D8231 WIRELESS N1 MIMO WIFI ROUTER and I was wondering if there was anyway I could get this to work with ADSL? I have had a research with regard to other firmwares, but cant really resolve the problem. Any advice anyone has would be most appreciated thanks

Re: Wireless N Cable Router can it be used with ADSL?

As long as you have an existing adsl router to connect to your broadband line to get the synch, you can still use this router by connecting the routers together by ethernet. You can then use the wireless n on the new router for all your devices, while using your old router for the synch connection only.

Re: Wireless N Cable Router can it be used with ADSL?

tried that it doesnt work, reason being is there is no where within the firmware of the wireless N to put the gateway ip of the old router. On some N routers there is but on this belkin there is not, these belkin routers seem to be a real pain in the arse, im sticking with the netgears from now on. Thanks for the reply though chap

you cant use the wan port on the new router so connect the old router to port 1 on the new router and it needs to be able to support access point (adhoc)this should then relay the signal
