A year or so back I bought a DM500c for my house and another for my parents house. Within a few months I had every aunt, uncle and cousin wanting one so I ordered 10 from dvbseller which I quickly dispensed around the family (with the likes of one uncle having one in each of his three kid's rooms as well as in the living room and his bedroom). After they were gone I got a request for 2 more so bought another 10 thinking that I would probably get them all took off my hands at some point.

Shortly after ordering my last 10 boxes the news came around that Nag3 was getting rolled out. Now I very kindly was moving these boxes on to relatives at cost price with nothing but annoyance in it for myself - but I decided to tell anyone now requesting a box that they were getting turned off imminently which made people not want them anymore - even if they were getting every channel free for quite a few months for the sake of a 40 quid box.

So anyway I now has 8 spare boxes sitting in the house and don't really know what to do with them. I was hoping some sort of cable card share enthusiasm would appear on these boards but haven't seen anything other than a few questions appear or people jumping to satellite. Anyone got any suggestions or ideas of what they are going to do with their boxes once they get switched off... other than use them as a door stop?

get them on ebay or gumtree or something while there still worth at least something???????

If you can put sat tuners in them i may be interested in taking one off your hands if of course you want to sell one providing they actually work as i brought a 500s from dvbseller last June, it still doesn't work after sending replacement power unit twice, and the robbing tw4ts won't refund my money.

Tuners are soldered to the board so its nearly impossible to change the tuners, not impossible but nearly.

not sure if it's worth the time and effort changing them to satellite considering you can get the satellite versions so cheap and the most expensive bit of the entire unit is probably the tuner.

I think that putting them into the cupboard probably the only thing I can do for now - although I've a few weeks off work in April and no holiday to go on (and i've still got my old phoenix card reader) so might look a bit further into the card sharing.

if you do go for satelite, you can still use a 500c to host your viewing card/act as a server for CS.

- Your using the 500c with relevant image containing the right CAM's purely to serve the card, similar to having a linux debian/ubuntu server your not watching any TV on it...
