freeview thru cable connection (is it possible)

Got my mum a new tv for her bedroom, she has a shit reception in there and instead of getting an aerial fitted in the loft at £45 i thought she could pay for installation for a new virgin box then have it a month then i could cancel it for her and use the installation cable by adding the fitting for the tv at the rf connection and tuning her freeview in and she would have a great picture.

So this was the other day and i havent phoned her yet to see if shes booked it but i tried disconecting my boys box and trying it in there and i got f-all channel pick up when i tried to tune it in.

a i doing something wrong and can this be done or will i have to phone her up and tell her i made a mistake, she wont be too happy, doesnt like hassle for herself.
some of u are saying get her a box,i would but shes the kind of person if found a penny in the street she would hand it in.

anyway i hope theres a way about this. Forgot to mention she has virgin down stairs and the idea is to get it split to the bedroom.

cheers
gio

Re: freeview thru cable connection (is it possible)

Two problems here m8
1. You wouldnt be able to cancel vm subs after a month it would be a min 12 month contract
2. The cable feed wont carry the terestrial freeview signal.
So in short it cant be done.

I got a digital aerial for £12, stuck it in the loft and got a great signal!
It's about 6 foot long but no-one can see it

Re: freeview thru cable connection (is it possible)

long gone are the days you could plug a cable feed into the back of your telly and view about 10 channels, when they pulled the plug on analogue
