Have a dbox2 has some kind of problem that I'm not to sure of.
The box has lakys-sylas-2xFTA.img on it and has been working ok. But went to put the commander 12 on it and I can't get into the box via network or serial cable.
I can set the network settings via the remote and save the settings no problem.
My router see's the box at what looks like half duplex mode or maybe a fault due to the led on router displaying orange and not green.
But no matter what the IP addy is set to, on power down and back up again the box resets itself to the network fields being erased.
Is this down to the network interface being faulty or some other issue that I'm not aware of? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Sometimes the image goes 'read only' and a re-flash is needed.
try setting a static IP then just restart the network rather than rebooting. then try ping it. if you can ping it, you should be able to telnet/ftp onto it

Thanks for the response and can confirm I tried the static but can't ping it or ftp to it no matter what I do.

if you've got a null modem (serial) lead, connect it up, use dbox manager (i think it's called) to get a BOOT LOG as the dbox boots, you might be able to suss from there if there's any error messages from the network port to suggest it's knackered.
otherwise, you can flash from COM port alone with a new image to see if it's the image at fault.

Thanks for your input m8, it got me thinking.(rep added)
Couldn't do anything with dbox manager as I could not ping the box due to the IP addy issue.
Anyway long story short it must have been an issue with the image on it. I decided to give Hyper Terminal and Stacks guide, an old doc but that guy gets shedloads of praise who ever he is, and even though it's a lenghtly process it works, and I will always remember it from now on.
Box back up and Commando 12, thanks and all praise to Al, on it now. I can get to the IP and change whatever now and can ping the box. So it must have been something to do with the image going corrupt, I guess.
Anyway thanks for taking the time to reply.
