Hi All

Just wanted to let you know that I have had a bad experience with Farango Electrial - farango.co.uk

I ordered a DM800HD satellite receiver but what was delivered was

1. A cable receiver
2. A box with a faulty SIM holder

NO response from company after multiple emails sent. Beware!

D

don,t know how you paid for your goods but if you paid by credit card before you send the faulty goods back phone your card company.
tell the credit card company the problems you have and you are having no response from the company and what can they do for you .ask about section75 sale of goods act as well as i think the seller is responsible for the postage costs of faulty goods card company should stop the transaction until the problem is sorted whether you require a refund or replacement.you may have to fill a form in they send but this applies to all transactions over £100 where the goods are damaged incorrect or not fit for purpose .
hope this helps

Since I have posted this Farango have just contacted me (one week later) saying they had a problem with their mail server are extremely apologetic and want me to return the box. I am not sure if this is to do with this post or the fact I have contacted my credit card company.

Their returns address is in Liverpool!

I will keep you posted.

I have since posted this item back to Farango. They say they will cover my postage costs. I am hoping to get a refund. I will post the outcome of this.

I received the replacement box 2 days ago. I was told that it was a completely new box and had been fully tested......Well I am very glad to say it is and what's more is that when I plugged it in it just worked! It came fully loaded with software. Works perfectly ;-)

I also had my postage refunded (the cost of of shipping the item back to them).

Although it was a hassle it has worked out well in the end. Farango have redeemed themselves......

Also some information for people in a similar situation trying to use official channels to claim their money back.

1. I raised a dispute with PayPal and they told me that they only cover the delivery of the item and not the content.
2. My credit card company told me that as I had bought the item with PayPal they would not intervene and that I should contact PayPal! BTW I am from Ireland so it might be different in the UK.

So basically it was a waste of time.

So what is the moral of the story? Research your seller.

HTH

i think the paypal credit card payment could be true one refer to the other .
but i have always been aware of the section 75 under the sale of goods act if you pay by credit card direct to a retailer for all goods over £100 (bare in mind this doesnt cover two purchases of £50 just one item valued £100 or over) that if you receive faulty goods or even if the company disapears overnight and you get nothing, get in touch with your card company straight away mention section 75 to them and they will step in to stop the transaction .
do not know if this applies for goods ordered from outside uk but does apply to all retail transactions in uk mail order or from a retail outlet .but bear in mind transaction must be for £100 or more per item .
may help others for any future purchase if things go wrong whether it's a holiday or a 50" plasma youre covered.

Hi - can you give me the full address for this company? I have ordered something from and not received it. They are not answering my emails and there are no other contact details on the website. I have opened a "dispute" with paypal. Thanks.

I have had similar problems with Farango Electricals for DSi cards. After opening dispute with Paypal and numerous E-mails to [email protected] only got half of order delivered. Still ongoing to get refund or goods delivered.

No company address or telephone number on website. Contact phone number on Paypal dispute centre for Farango is not recognised.

Very bad experience with Farango Electricals. Stay away!

Hi
I'm also experiencing a problem with Farango, they won't reply to my emails and yet 4 out of the 5 items don't work. I've raised a dispute through Paypal but they agreed a refund on the understanding I sent the items back to the Hong Kong address they had registered with tracking which would cost me £55... :-(
Has anyone got a UK address for them please ????

My problem now resolved by Farango representative John Troy of Blurbpoint.
Sent cards and apologised.
