Win7 handles Ram better than any previous Microsoft OS mate.

Don't be too alarmed with the measly 1Gb of Ram. Win7 runs perfectly well on considerably less. As long as your Daughter isn't going to ask Dad for the latest and greated 3D FPS then everything will be fine.

Personally, I'd opt for an older machine with more RAM and higher spec then install my own copy of Win7, but in all honestly, you're Daughter will be fine with 1Gb.

Go for an Intel based machine, they are still king of the Hill, and don't even consider an Atom based machine.

agree with others win7 runs perfectly well on 1G memory.

we are just doing a roll out for a customer 140 sites around the country, they are basically using as a web browser for their cbt. these machines are running much faster than their current desktop xp machines with less memory

Got the Toshiba satellite pro from here Toshiba Satellite Pro L450 + Free Educational Software - Computer Only (DO101) - Home Access Packages
