This puts a box around the text, so it should do the job
On XP...Go to
START
CONTROL PANEL
SYSTEM
ADVANCED
PERFORMANCE SETTINGS
VISUAL EFFECTS
CLICK CUSTOM
Scroll down
Click USE DROP SHADOWS FOR ICON LABELS ON THE DESKTOP
APPLY
You can change the colour of the box from the various settings within display properties.

He's got Vista on his laptop (according to another post), but hopefully this'll cover it as well.
I'm thinking about ditching XP for a bit & moving back to Win 7, might as well move with the times![]()
thanks for the replies i have windows xp pro on pc and and vista on laptop which i hardly use as too slow tks again great forum
what i meant was im conversant with xp (im silver surfer) it took me ages to master but i cant master vista yet and it takes me ages to download etc.you cant teach an old dog new tricks.
