![]() | I was thinking of getting a copy Windows 7 (£30) legit (!!!) Upgrade version. But I love my XP and don't want to say bye bye to it yet. So I was thinking of a dual boot setup with XP/7. (I know technically this would invalidate my 7 licence) So first thing is the dual boot with XP/7 anyone tried and and any pitfalls. 2nd thing is that Window 7 is upgrade only. Anyone know what sort of checks it does? I believe there is a registry hack to make it activate on a clean install with upgrade licence. It is changing a 1 to 0. Does it disable/delete XP even if it on another partition? I really don't want to mess my XP up, so any pointers would be helpful.

![]() | Re: Windows 7 Upgarde Clean Install & Dual Boot? I'm dual booting xp/7 at the moment (on two drives- one xp, one 7) - no problems at all. Just installed 7 on the second drive, when the computer boots you get a screen offering u the choice of 'earlier version' or 'windows 7'. Just concerned about your choice of an 'upgrade' version of 7. u cant upgrade from xp to 7 - its an upgrade from vista to 7 - u have to do a clean instal of 7 (with a 'full' version!!) |
