my lads just dug out his PSP so he can play FIFA 10 but it wont play it.its got really old FW 3.71. m33 .
i've read abit on a few forums but im unsure if i need to upgrade in stages or one big leap to the latest one.
can anyone help please ?.

and a few people have problems getting away from that firmware without a pandora as it keeps failing to update .

thanks for that JTH ,i managed to upgrade my youngest sons PSP so then i decided to do my eldest lads PSP thinking this is a peice of piss !.
I did the 1st upgrade stage but for some reason its locked it up on reboot and i got a green power light but a blank screen.

whats the simplest method to unbrick it ?.i did notice that with the one i did manage to flash that if i hold down right trigger there's an option to make a pandoras battery , is this all i need ?.

well as a follow up i put the old battery in newly flashed up PSP and i downloaded "Mr dudes pandora box" and tried to make a battery.
when i got to stage 4 and it said reboot and start the "pandora creator" from the PSP i did this but i just kept getting a message saying "cannot be started".
i then read i need to set the PSP to 1.50 kernel so when i booted up the flashed PSP to recovery mode by holding the R trigger i cant find 1.50 kernel in the configeration section.

can anyone help pleae ?

k m8 sorry was busy all day

forget mr dudes.(although its great)
the psp u have custome firmware on ,use that to make the battery as u noticed,then get psp grader 8 http://www.digitalworldz.co.uk/20054...rader-8-a.html
use xp machine.

just select drive ,tick format stick then creat pandora.
let it run .when done put in dead psp then put the battery in holding left trigger button and u will get menu,

thanks for the reply , i downloaded the prog then cleaned the stick but i dont have the offical 5.0 eboot and the download button just gives an "error please try again" message.
i then dl'ed it from psp-hacks but when i upzip it grader v008 only accepts extensions "Sony Eboot (PBP,ZIP,RAR).i renamed it to Sony eBoot.PBP but the grader prog still didnt see it .
were can i get it from ?.
it wouldnt let me download the grader from your link , i had to get it elsewere.did your link have the eboot ?.

right , with alot of faffin around ,renaming and moving the eboot into C drive i got the the menu now up on the PSP screen.
install 5.00 m33
install 5.00 OFW
NAND operations
hardware info
test m33
shutdown
reboot device
do i select the 1st one ?.

i did that then it froze of flash 1 then turned itself off.

so after plenty of reading i ended up having to take a nand image off the working console ,,,rename it ....add it to the stick and reinstall then flash the PSP flash.Turns out the flash 1 was corrupt.
ball acke aint the word ,,,but got there in the end...now i just read in a new post there's a new flash out !! feck to that !! done for the month .thanks for the help.

becareful when flashing the NAND from another console.
the NAND is only intended for the console it came from.
it can do more damage than good

if the flash 1 was corrupt you would of been better off toggling usb 1 and manualy deleting it via the pc
