im getting mine installed on the 17th so i dont know about the speed yet, bit i know they dont cap it. its the only service they dont cap. although they are signed up for that anti piracy thingy

I had the 50 meg and they capped me plus i never got the full download speed the best speed they could give me was 39meg..to 42meg so i rang them.

They said they would send the cableman to have a look at my cable feed but all he did was add 2 boosters which then gave me 42meg then he said thats the best you will get..

I then phone ntl again and ask why i was still not getting 50meg they said you never will get 50meg the most you will get is 48meg on a good day 49meg.

They said it just like 20meg you never get the full 20meg you only ever get 18 or 19 meg...

So i told them 2 stick it ...

not sure why u were getting capped unless "NA" in the below link just means theyre not telling you.

what have you got now johnboy196 if u told them to stick it? i dont see a problem at 42mbit myself. ur never going to get full speed, theres 2 many possible bottlenecks, e.g. how many ppl ur sharing the line with, links between you and the server maybe overloaded, the server ur connected to may not have the upload bandwidth etc...

im just on the 50meg ttony installed a week ago getting the full speed no capping at the moment fairusage policy dosent apply to 50 meg, when d/loading from thundernews or demon i get roughly 6200kbs works out at about 6.3 meg a second. I wonder how long it will be till they try to cap it in some way well ill get at least 12 months out of it before the can change any part of the contract well I hope ............

i f they said that to me at the end of month i would of payed them ten pound short and when they phone me i would say thats all your get on a good day

I have gone back to 20meg m8..

As i was not paying £50 NOTES a month for 42meg ..when i should get 50meg.

They never gave me any reason why they could not get the download speed any better. they said do you use a router with your pc i said no as i do not use a router..

All they did was ask me to type 192.168.100.1 in the address area and tell them some info from inside the modem page then they ran some test and then asked me to tell them what it said on the modem info page again.then they asked me to download 3 diffrent files at the same time and tell them the speed at what the files where downloading at.

Then they ask the spec of my pc which they could find no problem with.

So thats why i told them to stick it..and went back to 20meg..

After all they charged me £30 notes just to come and fit the modem in my house..

I told them i was not paying for the 1 month fee for the 50meg as i never recived that.
