hi gang i changed my admin password on my laptop before i went to work abroad for a few months now i really cant remember it. i can access limited parts of the laptop using the wifes non admin account on there, but i have all my pictures of my tours of iraq and afghanistan on my account but cant get access to them. is there anything i can do? please help

You could download Hirens cd at link below and burn to a disc. Boot from that disc and choose passwords, the top option in that section (active password changer) will search for any dsam files which have the password in it, just put an X in the admin box and hit enter, it will reset it to blank. Boot again without disc and thats it.

Follow the below mentioned steps to reset the administrator password or any other user account password in Windows Vista.


Step#1: Boot into WinRE using the Vista DVD.


Step#2: Click Command Prompt


Step#3: Now type
net user <user account> *
Press Enter


Step#4: It will ask for a new password - Enter the new password
Press Enter


Step#5: It will then ask to confirm the password - Confirm the new password
Press Enter


This will reset the user password..


For example: If Customer forget the administrator password go to WinRE in Command prompt and type: net user Administrator *
Then press enter to enter the new password for the account.
