Johnny Cash.

Can't say I'm his biggest fan.

I grew up listening to my Dads music, he was a huge Cash fan but all I ever heard were 'ring of fire' and songs from that era.

Today I heard a brilliant song, written by Tent Reznor and sung by Mr. Cash.

I am a big Reznor fan but Johnny Cash's version is hugely superior, it was also Mr. Cash's last release before his death.

Great tune I heard this recently myself but can't think were.

I love Johnny Cash an I'm only 30, I thought Walk The Line the movie was excellent aswell.

I know some NIN fans, and Cash fans to be honest, hate that cover.

They are mad. It is perfect. It never fails to send a shiver up my spine.

Piece of piss to play on the gootar too.

Verse - Am, C, D (picking and strumming)

Chorus - Has G and F in it as well (I'm at work so I can't pick my beast up to recall it).

i'm an AVID Nine Inch Nails fan, i first saw reznor and the band live when they supported Guns n' Roses at Wembly in 1991 for the start of the illusions tours - and i have to say this cover is amazing. one of my favourite songs ever hands down. 'pretty hate machine', 'broken' and 'fixed' EP's and 'the downward spiral' were all good albums but tailed off a bit in the late 90's. However, some of the recent stuff is sounding much more like the earlier industrial sound he had in the broken/fixed era. Reznor has also done quite a few soundtracks too

if u listen to the words of hurt, it's all about addiction which is pretty apt for cash after his addiction to amphetamines for so many years. i'm the same as you, i'm not a massive fan of the country music but this is so touching - especiallisy as it was his last release before he died. Also, his wife (in the video) died not long after it was made and not long before he did. what an awesome song he picked - such a good cover, i'd almost say better than the original. saw it when it was first aired on BBC2 one night a few years ago - they aired the whole thing and an intro. some of the clips in the video, of his past, his family - it's so moving. like he's saying good bye.

Its a brilliant song and as stated it was his last as he died shortly after.
When i saw the video a few years back i sat blubbering like a big kid.
I like NIN and the downward spiral is always on my mp3 player but Cash nailed it superbly.
God help Trent Reznor when he settles down with a wife or girlfriend !
His career and dark lyrics will be finished.lol

Nice one W, thanks for that. Had heard The Man in Black sing that before but never seen the vid. Don't think it's the best Johnny Cash I've ever heard but it's a bloody fine farewell from him, his aged voice really does the lyrics justice.
