Re: mail Client With Multipe Identities ?

I'm on Virgin myself. As well as using my own email account, through virgin (also I have an NTLworld account still active).

I look after a friends business while he's away and send/recieve emails from his ISP account on plusnet.

I also use 1and1 hosting (not an ISP I know) and have 4 email accounts with them.

I also have a googlemail (gmail) and yahoo accounts in Thunderbird (not ISP's also).

I also use my works email settings to send/recieve whilst I'm at home (also on plusnet business).

Apart from Outlook Express are there any email applications that allow you to set up and switch between multiple identities ? Windows Mail in Vista does not allow this and neither does Outlook to the best of my knowledge.

I got a bit lost following some of the answers in this thread, but from what I can gather you're getting at with the 'complete' isolation regarding OE identitites, you can replicate in Thunderbird using Profiles.

As everyone else has said, you can have multiple email accounts and seperate objects in both the UI and physical file locations, but also maintain completely seperate profiles for different users so they're private from other users profiles (which may contain their own multiple accounts)

Start Thunderbird using Win+R > thunderbird.exe -P

Create a new profile and either tick Don't ask at startup to start the selected profile by default, or untick it to be prompted with this profile selection screen each time.

A more elegant way of launching individual profiles is to run thunderbird.exe -P profilename or create a new shortcut and change it's target properties to "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Thunderbird\thunderbird.exe" -P "profilename"

Everything can be easily backed up using Mozbackup at the Profile level as well.
