can't get mode B - Hitachi - 47dj

hello all,

Can i just clarify something please? after doing a few liteon's and a benQ and that i have a Hitachi that needs doing, am i right in thinking that i have to install a driver for the via pci card that i have so that windows will recognize a drive etc.....

And then when i want to do a liteon etc I'll need to remove the drivers or I'll get the famous hang.....bit of a pain if that's the case as will have to install and un-install etc etc.....

Can't get this puppy into mode B, sure I'm reading JF correct as kinda quoted above......

Other way you can do it is using a slax cd mate. Or the modeB thing that oggy has. lol.

ah the good old slax cd, is that what you burn to cd and then close tray and let it spin for 20 seconds or so... I'm a bit confused now then as JF tut states that you have to eject drive and then click on "send mode B" but after using the slax CD that'll plop it into mode B i take it, so do you simply miss this part out.....

What's the thing that Oggy has mate?

Wondering if i should just install the via 6421 driver in case any thing goes bottom up......

(come to think of it i have a another Hitachi drive here that needs the key taking from it and put on another one and that drive won't open or eject so i guess putting the via 6421 pci drivers would be more beneficial in a way then) and then any lite ons etc I'll just have to remove the drivers.....

I aint sure about the drivers thing mate. I have only ever done hitatchi's, and I used the slax cd twice, and the JF thing once. Burn slax, put it in and set to boot from cd. Soon as you see spinning up disk then you eject the drive, and it should then be in modeB.

You would need to speak to oggy about his modeB thing. lol I think its what JF does.

im sure last time i had to disable a floppy drive or summit

go to contyrol panel, system, device manager, floppy disc drives and disable it. dont disable from floppy drive controllers

u have to install the via drive again . lm sure u would of removed that when doing the liteon drive

yeah cool, as i have a drive here that wont eject and that then i guess installing the drivers for the Hitachi's to be seen in windows is the way forward, if i do any liteon's then I'll just have to remove the drivers for the pci via 6421 card, oh well not the end of the world.... OK I'm off to install the drivers (never installed them in the 1st place you see as only ever done liteons and ben Q's) cheers chaps (p.s i am using an xecuter)
