Hi

Not sure if anyone else has experienced this with this sky box, but on occasions some channels keep droping out with a error message 25 saying no signal.

But even though it says no signal most of the other channels like sky news works fine,


any one experienced this before and any idea how to resolve this problem?

Try this, Services 4>0>1 then select this will take you to the engineers menu.

If your willing to loose all the progs you have then select system rest I think, this will format the HDD and start afresh and should sort the problem out.

if its not a thompson sky+ or sky+HD box, then id suspect the LNB first m8

can you plug your receiver into someone elses dish to check this?

just going to try and get someone's box and plug it in to see if it works,

problem is only some channels are lost not all.

Also tried the hidden menu for the signal it seems to be fine.

Which box have you got M8 eg a lot Amstrads are prone and pace 2500.

wat channels are missing.? could correspond to high/low band channels and vertical/horizontal polarized channels.......could well be lnb fault as digi said......or dish slightly out of alignment......if its not either of them check the f connectors to make sure they are on properly....then that only leaves the stb......

i had a problem with sky freezing before, and i was told by an aerial engineer that by shortening the cable from the dish to the box helps with signal strength. which he said has been a problem with bigger properties. so perhaps this might be your answer if you've got a lot of cable excess with a bigger than usual property... just a thought

right - here is some update -

My box is an old Pace box from 2001 (wow time has flown) - read some other forums on line and it seems to suggest that the box is knackered

Phone up SKY support, who took their time and made money on the premium number (could not find anything on saynoto0870 :-) )

They said recenlty some channels have been shifted to a higher frequency and most the old boxes and dishes can only go to certian frequencies - that why channel on higher frequencies will keep freezing out.

suggested paying them £65 fix fee and they will come out and look at it.

could still be the LNB m8, try one off ebay, only about a fiver

failing that, cancel your subs and resub in a new surname

nice new box as well then all for 30 quid

so they have admitted to old boxes not being able to tune to the new higher frequencys..

ide have a word with trading standards to see where you stand, as that looks to me as sy are making you pay for a replacement box thats not faulty, but due to the fact they have shifted frequenxies..
