Hi,

I need to reinstall Office 2003 Pro after a hard drive format. I have my sticker and product key but the disk has some slight scuff marks and will not install. I need the Pro version as I use access.

Does anyone know if I can get a new disk or a download from microsoft to replace the damaged disk without having to fork out the full price again, alternatively, any suggestions gratefully received ?

Hope THIS helps

If you have lost, broken, or misplaced your original Microsoft Office or Microsoft Publisher installation CD, you can order replacement media from Microsoft.

KB302822

I've got my copy backed up RS.com, but my S/N is slipstreamed into it, so you'd need find a way of overwriting it with your own S/N.

Seedy's post should work though, it's how I got a charity I used to work for their copy again after somebody walked off with the discs.

Thanks for the replies.

I need to get it reinstalled sooner rather than later so I was thinking about a download from RS.

However, as Dazza points out some of them have the product key slipstreamed into them and I would like to use my own personal product key.

If there was a way of changing the embedded product key in a download version that would be a quicker solution than attempting to get a replacement disk. However, its knowing how to get to the embedded key and how to edit it ??

Thx & Rgds

You can m8.

There are umpteen keychangers out there, gimme a minute :)

Seedy,
Many thx.

I cannot download the file, I get page unavailable due to permissions, perhaps my posting count is too low to allow me a download ? My account is active as I can post but it says I do not have priveliges for the file download ??

I do not seem to have a PM facility either ??

Quite possibly.

I was going to PM you the file, but can't for the same reason.

Best heading to Magical Jellybean Keyfinder

Version V1.5B2 is the one I use, as the newer one doesn't allow you to change the key.

Seedy,

Many thx m8, I have downloaded the v1.5b2 from the Magic Jelly Bean site and will give it a go.

Out of interest was that the version you have uploaded to this thread ?

Thx once again, top man.

It was indeed, it's a great little app if you need to change your XP Key to one you copied from a legit PC at work :)

I have tried the Keyfinder v1.5b2 on my wifes PC and it only locates the Windows O/S key, it is not offering to find or change the Office 2003 key on her PC ? Is that keyfinder specific for a Windows O/S key or is it supposed to find office keys as well ?

Thx

Seedy,

Thx for the info, I have downloaded v1.5b3 however, when I try to unzip the file my Anti Virus software is blocking it as a "HackTool" virus. Just to make sure it was not a false positive I tried it on 2 PC's both and both blocked it.

I suppose I could temporarily disable the Anti Virus software but am a bit nervous about it.

Its never a simple job..........

Many thx for all the help & your patience, most appreciated

OK, good news, temporarily disabling the anti virus allows unpacking the file and I can now see the office key on my wifes PC.

If I wish to change the key how do I go about it ? the change windows key option is greyed out in the Options menu ?

Thx & Rgds

I'm at a loss now Gloimel, I could've sworn the Office key could be changed with this tool.

I'll keep looking though, I'm sure one of the other guys can find a "free" solution :proud:
