guys got a lappy here but when booting asks for
password,any way get past this ???

Depends what system is on it m8, although you could use the Hirens cd to possibly get the password. Have you tried the bios to see if there is a setting to ask for password at boot.

if that of no help then plz post back with more info on who made it and what modal of laptop you have

If it is a bios password then Hirens cd also has a few bios crackers which can remove the password.

its a hp compaq nx9105 guys if that helps

only thing i can think of is to change the drive as sometimes this will del it but it has to be a drive lock

is it hdd password ? other seem to be talking about power on password.

if its hdd password your best bet is a new hdd last time i looked for hdd password the word on the street was its not poss as yet to crack.

cant remember 100% that model of lappy can check monday but i think hp/compaq offical fix for lost power on password is new sysboard.

just checked my hp/compaq manuals, although am hp cert i dont have this util i will seach on the cert portal and see if i can find, if not ill ask our tech support monday


Resetting the Computer
If the computer you are servicing has an unknown password, follow these steps to set a new password. These steps also clear CMOS:

1. Enter an incorrect password and press enter.

2. Repeat step 1 two more times. After the third entry of the incorrect password, the computer responds with a “System Disabled� message and provides an override password.

3. On another computer running Windows XP, download the
unlock6.exe utility from the HP Channel Services Network (CSN) Web site. Copy the unlock6.exe utility into the root directory (C:\ drive).

4. Access MS-DOS by clicking Start > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt.

5. Enter unlock6 xxxxx 0, where “xxxxx� is the password generated by the computer in step 2. The computer responds with another system-generated password.

6. Enter the password generated in step 5 on the disabled computer to enter the system BIOS. In the BIOS, navigate to the Security tab and dministrator Password. Enter the password generated in step 5 as the current password. Enter a new password to change it.

7. The password has been reset and all CMOS settings have
been cleared.


if that util unlock6 doesnt work just found reference on cert portal to BIOS_PW.EXE and HDD_PW.EXE but niether there :-(
