Re: TT 1501 or 2300 DVB-C

aint used the 2300 but understand it's fully hardware -so you cant use a softcam with it - if this isnt an issue then it might be the better card in a low spec system

I have used the 1501 and it runs fine under xp - using mdpai/vplug it will decrypt all channels np - it's not quite as good as a floppydtv/joker combo but it is a third of the price and on anything less than 32" I doubt u woudl see the difference

Yes, it does hardware MPEG2 decoding, but I don't think it can handle HD resolutions, only SD.

Neither Floppy or TT1501 have any influence on the video quality. That's determined by the specific codec and output hardware.

I used a TT1500 myself and was very happy with it, and I'm pretty sure I'll put a 1501 in my next HTPC.

Re: TT 1501 or 2300 DVB-C

thats nice

no a softcam will not work with this card (as stated above)

as a softcam will not work with this card there is a shortage of software - sorry if you feel this is unreasonable

I would suggest ways of getting round this problem but there doesnt seem much point given how much attention you paid to my other posts

a softcam wil not work with the 2300 because it does hardware MPEG2 decoding - you got 2 replies to your question - both pointed this out - so off you go and buy one and then ask will it work with a softcam?

your only available option afaik is to buy a CI card for it and use a joker/funcard or mosc with it - assuming you want to decrypt nonfta channels anyway
I think you're confusing video decoding and channel decryption. The 2300 card does video decoding in hardware, but barring any other compatibility issues, channel decryption should still be possible with a softcam like Vplug in DVBviewer, MyTheatre, Media Portal, etc.

I have to agree with senor ding dong on this one, Any card can use software decryption so long as the software which you use to view your TV supports softcams , whether it has hardware decoding or not (the hardware decoding is only for the video and not decrypting the signal) HD might be a problem though

i've got a TT2300c (2100c) and TT1500c (1501c) and have used softcam with the 2300 although a few years ago fenrir and yankse, vplug will work.
The downside to the card is even though it is a 'premium', more expensive card than the budget 1500, there are no bda drivers, therefore no supprt in a lot of the apps like mediaportal, myth tv etc.....i've used ritzdvb, my theatre and now the TT premium DVB-TV.

TT always stated they would have bda drivers for premium cards, but the last time i checked there weren't any....haven't checked in a while though

cheers
