Hi all
a few months ago i got the sky+ box and install free for 12 months with the 6mix

all has been well so far.... i have also moved within this time, however it was only over the road so still same post code.
however i have just purchased a hd pace box off ebay for £80 inc delivery with new bits eg remote etc....

my question is, i dont want the other hd channels, so will i just need to phone sky and re pair the box, i also have no phone line and paid £25 on instalation 6 months ago????

or has anyone else paid the extra £10 on this deal? and not had the rest of the deal cut?? i dont fancy paying £26 a month for tv.

my other question is, my old sky + box has 6months left with sky..... would sky warrenty my new hd box???? if i sold my old sky 1?

does anyone know any faults with the hd boxes? is it just the capacitors??? i bought a pace as these seem to have better reviews.

£10 a pain but if you want hd channels then you have to pay subscription charge, I have full package and find it really good.

I think you can just phone and get new box paired up.
Your warrenty wont transfer.
Thompsons are the one with bady capasitors.
Pace epg i think is a bit slow and for me had problems with series link as in it wasnt there.

Since you bought your box outwith sky they would prob be reluctant to even replace it even if you threatn to cancel.

If you just want bbc-hd, ITV-hd, ch4-hd (and luxe-hd) then you wont need to pay the £10 per month. You can just call and get it paired, then it works in the same way as your sky+ box. I cant see that they will start charging you as you wont be changing your 'free' 6mix package in any way (you will have to check though because they are ruthless). If you do decide to add the £10 HD cost then we know that you will get charged for the rest of the package, since others have tried to upgrade this free deal and been charged the full costs with the 'free' bit being lost, so it will go from zero to £31.50 per month! (It wont be 16+10 for the 6mix, it will be 21.50 + 10)
As Rodbouy says though, you wont get any warranty transferred to the privately purchased box.

thanks for the replies guys, i dont think ill add the hd package in fear ill get charged, dont really fancy spending that much when i could get a dm box instead.

although i have read on other forums that ppl have called sky out changed their boxes to hd and the engineer has replaced them for £65, might be luck of the draw thou


as long as it keeps going for 6 months ill be happy thats cheap viewing compared to skys normal costs. lets hope they have a new offer in december i can sign the girlfriend up for
