Pace DITV1000

Hi,

I have a old Pace DITV-1000 I have dug out the loft for a friend. Basically when i turn it on its freezing on a ntl screen saying

Please do not switch off
Your set top box is being updated
This may take a few minutes

I've left the box for a few hours like this and no joy, removed the red jumper and re attached tried again but still no success.

The Pace logo is shown on the LED screen with the bottom LED constantly lit up.

Any advice appreicated.

firstly , you say the box is an NTL box so can you please confirm you are also in an NTL area.

if you are then it seems you have lost your NETID and need to reset it and the pin with either libbys or a fun netid card.

if you cant get into the engineers menu to use the fun netid card then its possible the box has got stuck in a " update loop" which means its trying to update but cant because the netid is wrong.

the box cant find a feed to update from or it just freezes on the logo page or goes through the motions of an update .you cant get out without a update loop without a test sim.

there's quite a few 1000 boxes recently gone down like this , even subbed ones.
hope this all makes sense.

Hi thanks for the response, the box is in a TW area but it has worked here before just went off in this state a few years back so i threw it in the loft. Yes can't get into engineers menu or even get a response from libby.

From what you just said it seems like it is stuck in update loop, so the only way i can get this box out of a update loop is with a test sim? How would i go about getting one of these and is it easy to do? Also what are the cost of them?

to make a test sim you need a spare sim (4 chip sim ) the sim with 2 x atmels on them.
you have to remove the atmels from the sim board and program them with the test sim with the test_sim.bin files in whatever programmer you use ( i use a up48) then pull the jumper for 5 mins ,,make sure you've no feed to the box ,,,and no power the jumper back on , , put the test sim in and hold the up/down arrows on the front of the box in.

you then can get into the engineers were you can set the freq pin and netid.once you have set all the settings ,,,press "TV" on the front of the box and the box will try to reboot.
soon as it starts off within a second or 2 just powerr off the box and swap the sim to the old one and do the 4321 trick to make it forceupdate.

if its a 1000 box you'll be getting ready to do what i'll be doing which is bin the feccer !.last update vermin sent seems to have nailed quite a few 1000 boxes nationwide.
