Hi chaps
my lad went to play on the ps3 this morning, put game disc in but it will not read. Tried other discs same result.

If I reboot system using system restore will that do anything or is it a repair jobby.

Bought ps3 second hand from a reliable source who assured it is only about 14 months old, no reciept unfortunately.

Any help appreciated

Not sure what problem could be, if you have infants could be possible they have shoved pennies or something in the drive slot.

Do what everyone else does, take out the continous play thing send away for repair and cancell when u get it back.

your drive is fooked

if its a 40/80gb then phone sony up and they will replace it for free.

if its a 60gb u will need to take out continuous play for a month then phone up and get it replaced

if its 14 months old then the warranty is out sign up for continous play mate and they will replace it. Judging by what you have said i would think the blu ray drive has gone and they cost quite a bit to replace mate.

Thanks for the replies chaps...just an update it appears to play cd's but not dvd's or game discs.

I think the continuous play option is looking likely.

the fact that the warranty is up does not make a difference. sony will replace all ps3's for free, as long as it aint a 60gb, no matter how far out of the date the warranty is.

phone them up and they will have a new one to u within a couple of days.
