hello,
my daughter has forgotten her password to login to her pc, (she keeps changing it so her sisters can't use it)
shes running vista home premium...i downloaded a program called "ophcrack" but when it ran its cause it was asking for rainbow tables to install???? "i know" i havent watched rainbow since i was 6 lol....anyway if someone has a different software to use (one more easy) or any ideas, please help as i really don't want to format...plus because my daughters 11 she won't let me on mine till i fix hers...

is she the only user on it.as in like admin or does other people have an account on it


Method 1

Start by booting your computer to Vista in your computer administrator account Next open administrative tools in the control panel.

* Double click the computer management item, this will open it.
1. You then authorize user accounts control by clicking the continue button.
o Double click on "local users and groups", this will open it.
o Click the user's folder.
o Select the administrator icon.
o Right click it to open its content menu.
o Choose properties.
o Remove the check mark from the "account is disabled" box.
o Click OK.
o Restart your computer.
2. Once your computer has restarted, open the administrative tools control panel.
3. In the Users area, disable any other enabled accounts with computer administrator privileges.
o Look for account icons that do not have the red disable mark.
o Click to place a check mark on these account icons.
4. Next you open Properties.
o Click to add a check mark in the box labeled "Account Is Disabled."
5. Check to see that your Administrator account is enabled.
6. You can now close Computer Management and restart Windows.
7. When vista reboots the administrator account will be loaded automatically.

Be advised that this method is for temporary use only, for security reasons. You should never leave your Administrator account enabled without a password.
Method 2
1. Turn on your computer.
o As Windows is starting up, when you see the "Starting Windows" come on your screen, quickly press F8.
o In a dual-boot environment, this can be done easily from the boot menu.
2. When the boot menu is showing:
o Using the arrow or tab keys, you will select "Microsoft Windows" (this is the option that runs Windows Vista).
o Do not press Enter, instead you press the F8 key, and you will progress to the Safe Mode boot screen.
o At the Safe Mode boot screen, you will select the first option, "Safe Mode".
o Press Enter.

It will take a few moments but Vista will present to you a login screen that has two options, Administrator and Other User.
3. Click on the Administrator icon.

Your Windows Vista Administrator account has now been enabled.

I have a little program here (not tested myself) it is supposed to reset any windows login password on xp and vista if ya need to try it let me know
and ill up it somewere

Just boot this CD and follow instructions.
Usually, just pressing return/enter should work, except maybe
pressing d to load drivers when it asks for that.

To make a bootable USB drive / key:

1. Copy all files from this CD onto the USB drive.
It cannot be in a subdirectory on the drive.
You do not need delete files already on the drive.
2. Install the bootloader:
On the USB drive, there should now be a file "syslinux.exe".
Run this from a command line, like this:


j:\syslinux.exe -ma j:

replace j with some other letter if your USB drive is on another
drive letter than j:
If it says nothing, it did install the bootloader.

Please note that you may have to adjust settings in your computers BIOS
setup to boot from USB.
Also, some BIOS (often older machines) simply won't boot from USB anyway.
Unfortunately, there are extremely many different versions of BIOS,
so I am unable to help you.
