Got to ask
what/where are all those im guessing places?
Only 1 ive heard of is west end lol
Also why should you not pay for parking
Most large bikes take up as much space as a car
And most bike owner park em in a whole car space
If a smart car is parked it takes about the same room
So they should get the same treatment free parking
As for the slow demo
You aint said what time even though i dont agree with it

Well I don't know what kinda bike YOUR riding but I have been riding bikes most of my life and have never seen a bike that takes up the same room as a car !

To be fair if a bike is parked on the road side in a marked parking area and taking up a parking space then its only fair that it pays, but given that the majority bounce up on road islands, street corners etc then they should be parking fee free.

If your arguement held water then vans and trucks should pay 2 or 3 times the parking fee because of their size ?

but bikes hold only up to 2 usually, but a cars hold from 2-7, people that is.

So for a high number of people would'nt cars be better

Re: london motorbike and scooter parking demo

if bikes where front wheel to the gutter in a normal parking space you'd get say 5 bikes in 2up each bike thats 10 people lol.
or is the parking fee just because most bikes in the city only cost £15 a year tax to run and they want your moneys other ways.

I dont ride a bike to dangerous with all those cars on the road
As for parking on paths, road islands thats dangerous
Cos of pedestrians knocking the bike could land on someone
And what would a blind person do?
IMO they should get a ticket for it and they will near me
As for the vans taking up 2+ spaces what van is that long?
Trucks rarely park unattended unless they are unloading (short stop)
My prob is most bikers park 45 degrees to the curb side
meaning they take up as much room as a mini so should pay
If but i rarely see it they park at 90 degrees to the curb
Then yes they should have a reduced rate
as long as they aint using a whole space
If this free parking ever gets passed
then Smart cars should get the same treatment
As they park 90 degrees taking half a space like bikes
And i would join the bandwagon for that

I have never seen anyone knock a motorbike over by walking past and bumping into it so piffle piffle piffle, and if they are dangerous for blind people then lets start removing telephone boxes, post boxes, street signs, bins the list goes on.... and I can park a 4.2 metre sprinter van with a 10ft trailer for the same price as a car, and yes overnight too.

FACT = Thousands of motorbikes park up perfectly safely in our cities without taking up any "parking spaces" at all, therefore reducing congestion and polution.....

But yes I do agree if they take up a parking space then they should pay, if they dont then no....simple really
