Diablo Cam Wifi + TM6900HD SUPER : Review

As Promissed !

The Diablocam Wifi (not to be confused wit the Diablocam Wireless) is a nifty piece of Cam !
You will need the CAS3 Plus Programmer from Duolabs.
No, it is not possible to program it on the fly by WIFI....

Out of the package :

- Well basically nothing works , not even the WIFI settings
- But, it is already Hardware Version 2.3 !

Lets Get started Then !

- Install the latest Cas Studio software(8.6b) which you can find on the site
of Duolabs.

- There are drivers as well embedded in the package for the Diablocam Wifi.
>> There is even asupport for Windows 2000, Windows XP and Windows VIsta 32/64 bit !!! Very nice.
>> It is a bit tricky to install the drivers under Windows XP, but after a couple of reboots wou will manage !
>> WINDOWS XP TRICK :
1. Click with the Right Mouse Button on Duolabs.inf and choose install
2. Click with the Right Mouse Button on windrvr6.inf and choose install
3. Reboot
4. Plugin The Duolabs CAS Plus programmer (USB)
5. Fire UP Cas Studio
6. Put Yr Diablo Cam Wifi into the Cas3 Programmer, a green led will light UP.
7. Follow my Instructions

- Download the latest Underworld Package and Unzip/Unrar it.(it must have the extension .dup)
>> The Underworld_VERSION.dup file is mostly accompanied with an informational txt file underworld _VERSION.txt
>> I'm using the version 1.60 in this Review.

- Cas Studio 8.6b, Choose the Icon Diablo Cam,
- In the DuoLabs Cam Menu, click on the Diablo Cam Icon
- Now We have some Tabs to choose from : UPGRADE CAM / CAM FILE SYSTEM / CAM DISK FUNCTIONS / WIFI CONFIGURATION
>> UPGRADE CAM : YEP, As you guessed right, this is the menu we use to program/upgrade our Diablocam Wifi with the new Underworld
>> CAM FILE SYSTEM : Here you can drag & Drop Files into your CAM, this is very usefull for configuring GBOX later on.
>> Take Note : Gbox support (& Newcamd) has only be added lately into Underworld.
>> CAM DISK FUNCTIONS : Here you can Backup & Restore your CAM functionality.
>> WIFI CONFIGURATION : YEP, Finally, we can configure the Diablo Cam wifi to our needs and have some WIFI security ! (WEP/WPA/WPA2 ...)
- Click on the Tab 'UPGRADE CAM' & Click on the Button '...', select the unpacked Underworld_VERSION.dup File.
- Cas Studio will tell you the FILE UPDATE VERSION & CAM UPDATE TYPE : 1,60 - ALL DIABLO
- Check the Checkbox 'Enable Verify'
- Click 'Start UPDATE', and let Cas Studio program your Diablocam , wait until is finished !
- Put the DiabloCam WIFI into your Technomate 6900HD SUPER & Enjoy !

I'm stumped on one issue thou - whats it get over the IP network, or indeed what does it send?

Another way of asking the same question would be - whats the advantages over the "light" - especially since you still need a CAS3 to update UW

Are you getting those channels BECAUSE its wifi (and therefor CS) or is that part of the current underworld package?

i'm assuming because

Please try to read and understand what I wrote.
It clearly stated that i was using gbox with underworld.
You can even share your local smartcard with it if inserted into the diablocam and CAS activated. (should be EMU- CARDS option)

First of all you need the latest VLC Media player from the videolan website. (which is also very usefull for streaming from dreambox towards your PC)

As I have read and understand correctly :
You will need extra Hardware That is called a "WIFI BRIDGE".
It is different from a WIFI-ACCESS POINT and Less expensive.
A wireless bridge is just a small box with a Wi-Fi antenna and several Ethernet ports on it.
In fact, it looks just like your wireless router.
The difference is that the antenna receives a Wi-Fi signal instead of broadcasts it.
Then it distributes the internet love amongst all the devices that are plugged into it.

What kinds of cool stuff can you do with networked living room devices over a WIFI BRIDGE ?
Have a look at just a few options:

Are you having any problems receiving HD transponders 12.015 &12.130 GHz on Thor 1W? I have also Diable WiFi cam and 6900 Super but programmes on those two transponders do not descramble properly. Other users with the same setup seems to have a problem.

If I run Tm6900HD SUPER under Newcamd Protocol, not a problem at all !
( I have to remove the Diablo cam)

SO don't worry it is the diablocam this is causing the problems
Mostly with 30000 sr channels But not all.

Here we can talk freely about Technomate/ cardsharing / newcamd / hidden features .....

last night i was reading about the 'excitement' over the 'new' 3500 and 3150 TM models, ive been playing with and modifying those for about a year lol, i turned a 3500 into a sat/mp3 jukebox with internal HDD and external connection for usb but still havent got round to posting the pics. i will one day

Hi Digi, maybe you should already post some info around the TM3000 series ?
I always found those boxes crap. (the software is too different from the 'normal' technomate models I'am used to.)
It is nice to hear you can do something else besides for what it was designed for

But it does not mean that I find them crap that someone else should ....It is a personal opinion !

So I will now continue my review after testing it 'thourogly'.

First there was the problem to configure the wifi.
For this you need your CAS2/CAS3 programmer and the latest underworld.

As my network is WPA I started with that encryption.
Soon I noticed disconnects/reconnects Every 1-2 Minutes which were logged into my WIFI router.
It seems to me that there is a very poor implementation of WIFI encryption in Underworld.

Second test : let's try WEP, Can you believe it could not connect !!!!

Thirth test : well here goes nothing, no encryption at all, just some basic MAC Firewall security based on the Mac adress of the Diablo Cam Wifi.
It seems that this is the only STABLE(disconnects 1h - 1h30min) way to connect a Diablo Cam Wifi onto your network for the moment with underworld 1.61

Conclusion :
1. If you only need to download keys (BIN/KEYS.XML), WPA is good choice since you do not need a stable connection. Only A download session.
2. If you do want to use Newcamd or Gbow together with underworld (files are included in underworld) you should use WEP, because it is only 'stable' solution. We can't have gbox running and yr wifi network reconnecting every 1-2 minutes.

A short update on the Diablo Wifi Cam in combination with Gbox.

ONE WORD, it is unstable, No proper Logging available, No explanation of Parameters to configure, ONE WORD, Underworld + GBOX = YOU SUCK !

I have been testing Gbox now for 2 weeks :
- Unexpected Crashes + reboot
- even when i dissable all BIN Files : Crashes
- Even when not sharing a local card or using an extra card in my satellite receiver
- Also I noticed it is only acting as a client. In fact it can recognize your smartcard but does not share codes towards the internet when asked for.
- I don't know but i find this gbox very crappy !!!


On the other hand, the built in NEWCAMD client works like a charm and
is very stable !!!!!!
It is a give & Take situation !!

Can you card share both the Card cam and the card slot over wifi ??

Only the card into the wificam is shared.

Has there been any updates lately? is ther a good tutorial on line anywhere for setting up a sharing network?

I cant seem to find one place with all the answers and Im getting mighty confused.

Hi,

well. At least you should have a fair good knowledge how your current WIFI network is setup before you setup de the diablocam WIFI.

You need to know this settings before you put yr diablocam wifi into yr home
WIFI network.
- SSID
- CHANNEL : Most people have FREQ 6, I Prefer Freq 11
- Encryption : For diablo wifi the most stable options are
* NO Encryption at all (100% stable)
* WEP 64/128 Bit encryption (Very Easy to chack), 95% stable
* WPA - TKIP encryption ( 80% stable)
* WPA2 (not tested yet)
I noticed that the diablocam wifi needs a very clean stable WIFI signal >=75%.

Then you can put all the settings into yr diablo by using the CAS Studio 8.6b

Finally available the CCCam protocol on Diablo Wi-Fi from UnderWorld 1.63.
What does it mean?? Freedom of using ANY receiver like a DreamBox.
Thanks to the Wi-Fi LAN embedded in the Diablo Wi-Fi when you connect it to
ANY Common Interface Receiver it will work like a DreamBox and enchances all the
s****ing features that DreamBox is offering in "exclusive" up to today but...
NOW with the big advantage that you can use you own Common Interface receiver
that you are familiar with and you like most, High Definition too!!

You can configure the CCCam as the DreamBox CCCam. You simply copy and paste the
same config string as you are using in your DreamBox.

Do not forget that even the other protocols are working as well like GBox, NewCamD and Radegast.

The Diablo Wi-Fi will act as card client or either Card Server!

You are not dreaming this is pure reality!

I already know how to load software into the 2.3 diablo wifi , the most important qusetion is how do you load the password and id address of the supplyer,is it by the ( cas interface 3 ). or the diablo wifi or the reciver by hand ?

The other thing is the technomate 6900 has 4 newcamd option port settings when you put "8281".
How many does the diablo Cam Wifi have with the latest Underworld in combination with the Newcamdclient?
