Im trying to ftp to this box.Ive set the ip in the box and on the pc.
Firewall is off.
In cmd. I can ping the box. eg ping 192.168.1.4

I get a reply with 0% loss.
In my web browser I enter the the http:192.168.1.4 and up comes the dreambox menu on the pc.
So I know they are talking to each other.
I can change channels using the webbrowser on the pc, when they connected.
Its a straight pc-crossovercable- cable box.
No router involved.
I use cute Ftp. site manager and add the box details, I enter anonymous in the settings for the box although Ive enterd the user and password also and this has made no difference.
My aim is to delete the 11 and 12.bins and overwrite the 7.bin
Which would be great if only they would talk to each other through cuteFtp.Spent 7 hours yesterday trying to figure it out...wits end guys.
Am I doing something sooo dumb I cant see it ?
Any help would be appreciated on this.

yes guys it wont connect using cuteftp. it says connecting in the pc program cuteftp,but just remains that way.
Im using port 80 on the pc program.ive tried changing it to port 21 on the pc and port 21 on the dreambox, but then I can no longer see the dreambox when I use the webbrowser.
So Im guessing by changing the port from 80 to 21 i create other problems.So I changed them back and can then access the dreambox again via the webbrowser
yes also used root and dreambox as the login creds and still the same.

Great explanation of what you have tried so far - but what is the problem? Is it that it just wont connect?

I use FlashFXP so cant help you with CuteFTP. But my settings are port 21 and I use root and dreambox as the login credentials. Hope this helps.

BillB thanks for your tip. I used to use Flashfxp years ago to Ftp to my xbox so im ok with that program.
To be honest that was the program I was trying to remember when I downloaded cute ftp instead!
So i D/l Flashfxp put in the exact same details and it connected first time.
Rechecked in Cute ftp-same settings- but would not connect.
So I'll uninstall that.
Ok.I'm trying to get the box back online and self updating.
Im thinking I just need the new roms.

I have roms 011208date.

I copy the files

nargaepr7.bin
nagraepr10.bin
nagraepr11.bin
nagraram7.bin
nagraram10.bin
nargaram11.bin
nagrarom7.bin
nagrarom10.bin
nagrarom11.bin

to the dreambox /var/scce folder and also to the /var/keys folder overwriting the original.

I disconnect the dreambox and pc and then
on dreambox
I do a brute uk scan.
It finds the channels and it lists them but does not decode anything ;I get a black screen.

Are these .bin files the problem ?
Last time I updated I used dreamup and an image file.This time it seems completely different.

reboot now
reboot enigma

I did both anyhow

restarting evocamd 2.12 shows then the picture and description of the channel in the bottom corner and a black screen.
Do I need to update an image for this box somewhere for this to work or have a done it right so far ?

forget cute FTP if you ask me. open up the cmd window (noting the directory you're in in cmd which will usually be C) and instead of pinging type:

ftp <IP of box>

enter log on credentials as requested then to change directories use:

cd <dir>

don't forget to put the first slash e.g /var/tuxbox

then to remove the files use the rm command:

rm <file name>

if you want to get a file from the box use 'get' this will get the file from the box and copy it to the location you noted in the first step:

get <file name>

if you want to put a file from the local machine to the box use:

put <filename>

again the local file will need to already exist in the directory where you opened up the FTP cmd window (C)

if you want to put or get all files use:

mput *
mget *

Once you get used to manual ftp you will not use any ftp clients, by the time you have opened cute ftp you could have finished the task and moved onto the next job (opening the next beer??)

Thanks for the ftp'ing bit bro. I've got past that stage now but it might well come in handy.
Going to copy and paste it to my documents just in case I get this ever happen again in a year or.Wouldn't mind its not even my box..said i'd do it for a mate..just didnt think it would take me this amount of time.
Still if anyone has an answer to my above...is what I have done right so far and how do a start the cam ? or have I done so already by doing the step in my last post ?

Update. guys looking at the .img files is it possible mine is no good as its out of date.Mine is enigma and I now see there is dw2.0, dw2.1 and dwbeta for the 500c if I flash my box with one of those would that sort it do you think?
