Hey all

Been a long time since I last posted in the dbox 2 section.

I just updated my image to Gavs Lakys FTA (New one) and for some strange reason after I've rebooted it just hangs when it's trying to boot the box up.

It just says 'Loading Kernel...' in the LCD. I've used the 2x image as I'm using a Nokia 2x Dbox.

Just pooing it that i've screwed my box up.

Is there anything I can do to get the box working again? I' thinking of flashing it using the PC (can't remember what that's called now) but I've never had any luck doing it via PC before.

All suggestions would be helpful.

Its probably just a bad flash. You need to use IFA to reflash it.

i've hardly been on the site for a while (been away most of the year) and since the forum categories changed - I ain't got a clue where to find IFA now on DW.

any clue on where I can dl it (apart from google)?

I trust the content from here but not most of the stuff from google - you never know who's whacked a virus in the zip etc.

Iv had something similar with my dbox, loading the correct image but geting no system or the box hanging.

As above ifa fixes it no probs. Id recomend the newest commando image, 10c i think it is. Had commando 10 on my box since it was released and its the bee's knee's

And here is a very good guide from Rodboy which explains it perfectly for flashing without a null modem cable, you only need a crossover cable.

IFA version 2.2

Turn off windows firewall
Disable wireless network connection

Rename image file mtd3.img and store it in C:\

set Local Area Connection network IP to 192.168.0.201
( IFA automatically sets dbox IP to 192.168.0.202 )
configure Local Area Connection link speed / duplex mode to 10Mbps / half duplex

open IFA
select image for flashing ( mtd3.img from C:\ )
select network device ( there should only be one available )
switch dbox on
press start
a dialogue box pops up
switch dbox off
click ok
switch box on
flashing should begin
progress is indicated on LCD ( IFA image on TV screen )
Fertig and smiley faces on LCD means success
disconnect network
off then on at the mains

will give that a shot when my missus has stopped hogging the tv now.

degzy - commandos are good but for some reason i just love the ones that gav brings out. might give the commando a whirl one day though.
