    Jewellers weights & measures

Has anyone got an idea on what is the right measure of weight the Jewellers are surpposed to use. Some say 31.1 grams to an ounce others say 28 grams to an ounce. Are they supposed to use the troy system or what.

In that case HPJ Jewellers don't use troy ounce to measure silver & gold they measure using avoir ounce which is used to measure food. Looks like I just got done, how can they get away with this.

If you've got a receipt contact trading standards. But a Troy ounce is heavier than an avoirdupois ounce, so you should have got more for your gold unless they've adjusted the weigh in price for the difference in the two scales.
