Unlike the old xbox which used to play them directly from the hdd. Will this ever happen for the 360 ?

Predominantly, it stops the xbox creating jumbo jet proportion noises. Apparently speeds up load times (Can't really tell the difference myself) and also should mean, if you have cheap media, load it on and it should help eliminate cheap media dieing quickly as you have no need to really use it. (not sure M$ planned on this one mind)

when i formatted it in the 360 it made just 1 partition. after reading through a tut i had to hex edit the drive which then gave the 3 partitions and was able to the dump the info from old drive to pc using Xplorer360 xtreme 2 then on the new drive again using Xplorer360 xtreme 2 i put everything back on.

It was alot of work really but all done now which is the main thing

The old xbox was running homebrew software. If MS let you run games without checks from the HD you could go to blockbuster and have 3 games for about £6
