30th November 2008, 15:24 #1 major spyware problem.
I downloaded winrar and got a major problem the other day. It started as the intervallhehehe problem where it pops up all the time. I got rid of that but now I'm left with the problem that when online I can't go on any of these sites yahoo. google. myspace. youtube.facebook and more. When I do I get a fake Microsoft security centre page. It then leads to antivirus 2008 page and says they want $39.99 to cure the problem.
Now I have tried anti malware superantispyware avg smitfraudfix roguefix. Smitfraudfix seems to pick something up but I don't think I'm using it correctly can anyone help when I run part 2 CLEAN (in safe mode) I get this
SmitFraudFix v2.379
Scan done at 13:56:43.04, 30/11/2008
Run from C:\Documents and Settings\mavis bradbury\Desktop\SmitfraudFix
OS: Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600] - Windows_NT
The filesystem type is FAT32
Fix run in safe mode

you could also try a couple of online scans

Trend Micro HouseCall - Free Online Virus and Spyware Scan - Trend Micro UK
another good one is SpyBot

Google mbam and download that program. Install it and do the updates if you can. Restart pc in safe mode. Do a full scan. All your problems should then be sorted

I had a problem with smitfraud and vundo viruses. itried the smitfraud fix too and it helped but didn't clear everything.
If you're not having any joy after trying advice from the online posts try using Kaspersky online scanner or post your hijack list to somewhere like bleepingcomputer.com. They helped me clean mine
