I've just seen this on another forum (nowt to do with subjects on here) i know this is aimed at USA (some of the names are in out high st too) but i am sure in the economic climate we find ourselves here similar things will be happening.

Default Beware Of Purchasing Gift Cards (US Stores?)

I wanted to give everyone a heads up that if you tend to give gift cards around the holidays, you need to be careful that the cards may not be honoured after the holidays.

Stores that are planning to close for good after Christmas are still selling the cards through the holidays even though the cards may be worthless January 1st. There is no law preventing them from doing this. On the contrary, it is referred to as 'Bankruptcy Planning'.

Below is a partial list of stores that you need to be cautious about.

GAP closing 85 stores

Footlocker closing 140 stores more to close after January

Wickes Furniture closing down

Mervyns closing down

Zales closing down 82 stores and 105 after January

Whitehall closing all stores

better idea would be stickin some cash into a card that way if shop does close yur not stuck with a useless bit of paper

well reading in london lite woolworthes are closing about 800 stores duing to be in debt

What a load of piss!

American stores for a start and any worth mentioning are huge multi nationals that are going nowhere.

Even if they do close down their local store, then there will still be stores somewhere in the country to use the vouchers and if that fails then theres always on-line purchases.
