any one manage to Connect DS wifi ad-hoc network

Been trying to get the DS online though an Ad-Hoc connection.

I've created an ad-Hoc network, and try to connect to it. When doing "Search for an Access Point" The DS showed the Ad-Hoc network with full signal and unlocked but when trying to connect to them, the signal indicator on the "Connection Test" would stay at red, and I would eventually get the error 51302 (can't connect to
    AP).

    Any one had any sucess?

I've had mine online. Did it how you said too.
It even connected to a hotspot at an internet cafe whilst on holiday.

Have you entered wep key etc?

I set up 3 different connections on my DS but all with the same info (SSID, WEP key, I.P addy etc.) and the first 2 don't work but for some reason the 3rd one works fine.
    I'm using a orange livebox.

    Cheers.

Having messed around with the DS and a wireless router at home. I've found the following:

    1) The DS will only support encryption upto WEP (no WPA or WPA2 here boys!)
    2) The DS has to have the SSID of your access point broadcasting (hide it it fails!)

So with this in mind, it leaves your wireless network fairly wide open to air-cracking, WEP is easy to exploit, even if you choose to add additional security by using MAC address filtering and adding the DS MAC address to the allowed table.

I then proceeded to try and setup a kinda wireless access point by tricking a USB wi-fi dongle into becoming an ad-hoc network on windows Vista but the DS throws a wobbly and follows with an error code (dont have it to hand). may be the same as you have been trying.

I guess the safest way, if you are serious about the DS online is to obtain the official Ninty wifi dongle, your internal wifi network is then secured with WPA/WPA2 (if your kit has support for it), and then simply have the dongle hanging off a PC to give an access point for your DS (or DS's) only.

    Hope that helps!

I've done this with an old Mac. I set the Mac to share its wired internet connection to the wireless card and then make an ad-hoc connection from the DS to the wireless card in the Mac.
