I am referring to the functionality in Outlook Express where you can set up multiple identities, each one totally contained in its own "shell" based on the store folder assigned to manage it.
When switching identities all aspects of the live identity are specific to that identity, ie, there is no availability of any other email accounts in the identity, it is totally unique to that email account. Switching to another identity closes everything in the old identity and opens up a new set of email folders again with no remnant of any other email account folders accessible or visible.
Outlook will accept multiple email accounts but they are all in the same pot on the screen.
