It does support 1080p input but downscales. The lcd can be bought on its own £475 at dixons a few months as I thought about it.

It *is* a 720p set though and the interesting thing is how all the 720p sets I looked at on the site use the 1049088 pixel number for resolution. The 1080p sets are clearly labelled as such. The combination of the two in the listings is sure to cause some confusion and in my mind is a mis-leading practice.

On the plus side it suggests they are having trouble shifting the 720p sets and we could see some real knock down prices on them after Christmas.

totally agree nightowl,the listing is very misleading almost bought one but like you checked the other so called 1080p TVs first and relised its not full hd
