My gold card has been ecm'd and is now pretty useless. I thought i could just use my original on digi card, which shouldn't expire for another6 months. However i cannot get any subscription channels with it. Can anyone tell me why. I've not done anything to it other than leave it on top of the stb.
Help please.

Press menu then 6, then 1. Check the date on your card. If it hasn't been in the box for a while, it'll need updating.

Put it in your STB on ch. 26 and leave it for an hour or so, if after this time it doesn't update, you'll have to edit it with MKFind and program it with the latest codes.

Thanks Wolverine. I tried leaving it on ch26 but no luck. I'm planning to buy an elvis programmer and make my own card using Kevlar. Can I use my current ecm'd card or will i need a new 1?

That card will be fine to use again

when the cards get ecm'd on digi send 5 volts which just blanks the gold cards so all you have to do is re-programmme it

but if you plan on mosc'ing your original card (recieving all channels on your on digi card that comes with the box) be very careful if your card gets ecm'd it has had it

but when u have your programmer just ask and we will help

What do you mean by an ECM'd MOSC has had it? I think mine has been hit a few times but a power off/on reset seems to put it right(Nokia box). I've taken the advice from the forum and lost some of the crap channels now, will this stop ECM's hurting it?

i dunno if you have been hit by an ecm ???

because when they send out the pbm they want to hit ie ff fc ff ff ff ff ff ff if your mosc has that pbm you get 5 volts across it and if your original card gets hit it kills it dead

i know because i have lost 2 cards that way

also did you lose a few chanels that you dont watch ie wellbeing or something like that make sure you change the first 2 parts of the pbm:

ie:

ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff <===== example pbm

ff fc ff ff ff ff ff ff <===== gets ecm'd

fd d3 34 e3 21 fd fd df <===== more likely to not get hit (but i dont know what that is so dont use it )

do you see the example i am trying to send

if you make the pbm more flexible then it wont get hit ---- i have a card that i made about 7 months ago and it still working fine

i always try to not have ff fc for the first 2 sets of charactors of the pbm or ff ff

just my finds from mosc'ing for a long time

I think I've been ECM'd because my STB intermittently locks up and shows a red dot or square as if I've got no signal. A reset doesn't work so I have to switch off for a few seconds to clear the problem.
With regards to the PBM, I can see what you mean. I hadn't noticed how the codes change depending on what programmes and slots are selected. I have now eliminated all FF's & FC's from the PBM codes(not just the first 2), so thanks for the advice MickieD, you're a star!
