I am in 2 minds in buying a satnav.Could anyone tell me which one is best a Garmin or a tomtom? Thanks.

depends what you want it for,garmin seem reliable (i have the i3)and prob not as fancy as tom tom,garmin is cheaper but tomtom is easier to get updates (although i use a converter so no probs)both get you there but tom tom may do more than that ie music,updates on traffic(at a cost) etc. do you want it for work or just in the family car.

i got a garmin 510 well happy with it

i've used both and currently use TomTom - definately the better of the 2

I prefer the tom tom - and I've found there seems to more content available online

tomtom seems to be more well known but garmin have some really nice stuff on the market. best bet is to go into a shop and have a play round with some of them to see which you like best

i'd go for the tomtom as you can update the maps easily whereas garmin requires a code at about $75
