just intall nero 7 premium, ( you know where to get it from)
this is the burner, but also includes a media server, called nero home, which you can use on the ps3, nero lets you play avi files, not sure about others, WMP11 DOES NOT LET YOU PLAY AVI

Cheer mate. Downloaded, installed & connected to PS3 but PS3 won't pick up any of the files at all in collections. I have read elsewhere about nero scout but I dont have with my version of nero 7 ultra??

got the server working - couldn't believe how easy that was (using Nero MediaHome)!!
Just need to now figure out how to get AVI's working (even though I've posted a thread about it) it only plays some AVI's and not others - maybe down to the transcoding?
I've found the same thats why, i ain't bothered that much at setting up the server as it pot luck if the ps3 will read the file. all depends what type of convertion was done on it originally.
untill all avi and alike work i've been using a PS3 converter tool which turns ton's of files into mp4 format which the PS3 will play. it includes the option to make the stuff into HD at 720p or 1080p.
then u could link up to the server or put the files on DVD or data stick and play them on the ps3
link is below if anyone wants to try the program
http://www.hardtech.net/pspvideo/ps3..._Installer.exe
if you have a dual core chip here's a little tip So the process speeds up when converting. go into edit profile/advanced1. You will see a box called number of threads. Change this from 1 to 2 or 4 only if you have a quad chip.
I've done it when converting 24 720p into mp4 and works like a dream. Took about 1 hour 15 to do a gig file.

I got the AVI's working - FINALLY!
Just set the Nero MediaHome transcode settings for the video to mpeg1 (original resolution).
This is the only setting that works.
Streaming is quite lagged tho - however, I have an older version of Nero 7 so just upgrading to see if this makes a difference.
Will post back if there are any changes.
Photos and Mp3s work just fine.

Take a look at TVersity. It will transcode almost anything, and has support for the new PS3 1.8 update.
