FTP problems
ooo ive never been in here before lol
anyway
i have a dreambox 500 (satellite, but other than the tuner its the same as yours) all connected to a network and running fine, i can connect by FTP and telnet no problems. now i have a friend who also has a dreambox, he can also connect to his and mine (i can connect to his as well)
satellite keys are updated pretty often and theres a file that needs to be updated by FTP, now i can FTP to the file in my friends box and edit and send the file in seconds, he can also ftp to his own and to mine
but if i try to ftp the file back into my box it just hangs untill it crashes, leaving the transfer incomplete. anyone else can do it for me no problems, but for some reason i cant
ive tried 3 dreamboxes, 2 PCs and 3 laptops and loads of different software all to no avail
any ideas peeps

I read this 4 times and still can't quite grasp the problem. Can you clarify the action thats failing ? You cant ftp from his box to yours ?
-
If the file is being used by the box it might block the overwrite or transfer.
Try killing the process first then transferring the file.
You can telnet to the box and type...
killall -9 <process>
For example, if you want to stop mgcamd from running...
killall -9 mgcamd
