softmod help
Hello guys,
I think I messed up my xbox while doing a softmod.
When I start the xbox without a game, I do not get the normal xbox screen.
I get a message "" your xbox require service, please contact customer service"
I used exploit SID5 for splinter cell PAL with PAL splinter cell game.
I tried to make a backup, but it would not make one for msdash, it says that it already exist and that I had to rename it.
I could not install evox either, that there was already softmodded files on the hd.
I removed the softmod and tried again, but no luck.
I still can play original games.
Can someone help me to softmod the xbox, do I need to update the dash to 5960, so the xbox menu will work again.

if you load up an original game that is live enabled then this will install a dashboard, just load up the game and go to xbox live. hope this helps.

if that doesnt work, you should be able to restore your xbox using the retail XBOX files on the slayer disk and xboxhdm (HD swap method)......sounds very similar to a problem i had when i used the wrong kernel for my xbox. Using the xbox live game didnt work for me and i had to use the retail xbox files to make mine work. Search for a thread started by me in this section it will give you more insight into this.......
What softmod method are you using?

I use softmod with splintercell pal exploit (SID5) with memcard.
I will try above mentioned steps, first.

Logic_187 I tried to start xbox live with Fable and also Unreal tournement Pal retail disc, but no luck. i must say that I do not have an account, so I say new account, the xbox restarted then.
What is the next step to do?
hotswap? or is their an easier way.

I also wonder if I can hotswap, because I do not know the dashboard version and kernel.

I managed to get it all work.
Luckily I made a backup of my C drive, which was included in SID5.
I could not softmod with SID5, I got a message that he could nog find MS backup, also I could not make one.
I downloaded: Softmod.Installer.Deluxe.v2.0.Xbox-Hq with splintercell PAL exploit from xbins (IRC). With this I could softmod without any problem.
Thanks everyone, who tried to help.
