Discuss Elvis port driver? at the AV & HOME CINEMA within the DigitalWorldz - Satellite, Cable, Console Forums; Ihave bought a elvis programmer and i'm sure someone has had the same problem ........<br />all I get is -<br />CANNOT INITIALISE PORT DRIVER.<br />all other programmers work ok on port 1 or 2<br />So ...

    Ihave bought a elvis programmer and i'm sure someone has had the same problem ........<br />all I get is -<br />CANNOT INITIALISE PORT DRIVER.<br />all other programmers work ok on port 1 or 2<br />So why not this one <br />Must be a easy soloution,I have downloaded easycom and cant seem to get my head around it. <br />any help gratefully received <br />ken.

    There have been postings on this before. It's most likely a conflict e.g. USB device like a modem that emulates serial port access.

    You have to temporarily disable them B$ you can connect to the progger

    I've been trying to find info in old postings about the com port and elvis. good to have a nudge in the right direction, disabled USB scanner. Something so simple,It had to be.<br />thanks Nix.........

    What o.s r u using? U can get a problem with elvis if u r using windows 2k. u can try disabling the com port u are using and re-enabling it, to see if windows recognizes it.

    If u are using Windows 2k there are guides on the net, on how 2 get around it. <img src="graemlins/hapsad.gif" border="0" alt="[hapsad]" />

    uninstall com port 1 from your device manager then reinstall it and everything will be ok <img src="wink.gif" border="0"> <img src="smile.gif" border="0">

    the portdriver u want is called portmon it was won wolvies site last time i saw it i needed it when i had my elvis with win 2k do a search for portmon u should find it

    use mkf4.3 and mp7 on win2k,<br />u should ahve no probs m8

    if you have an older pc that doesnt have fifo coms port this may be problem some laptops dont support this check the mp6 site some errors reported there..

    Thanks for all your replies, am in the process of trying all your suggestions.I'm using Win 98 on my PC. I've even tried Elvis on a friends laptop, works fine so Elvis is ok. <br />disabled the com ports and re-enabled them,<br />disabled USB devices.<br />still the same<br />I'm going to try Portmon now<br />If and when I get this sucker working I will post <br />a how to..........hopefully!.<br />cheers.
